One day some few weeks ago, my sister came up to me and asked, “Ate Jill, what were the chords to your high school grad song again?”
She was writing her own grad song at the time. She said that she wanted to make her own song, a song that is completely original and nothing similar to mine, but she said she couldn’t help it that she was so inspired by my song.
Some 4 years ago, the song I wrote won. Now fast forward to 2012, my sister experienced the same fate.
I had no doubts and worries when I heard her song. I knew for sure it would win. But finding out for real, while on my way to a field trip some 5 hours away from home, that she won, just made me the proudest sister ever.
Coming home, my sister had this pout on her lips.
“Wala naman binigay sa aming plaque eh. Ang astig sana kung meron, magkatabi na sana yung mga plaque natin sa table sa taas.” (translation: “We weren’t even given a plaque! It would have been badass if there was one, then our plaques would’ve been sitting beside each other on the table upstairs.”)
Moments like this just make me feel so much more grateful to the Lord for the family He has blessed me with. :)
